Pulse monitor – keeping an eye on your heart rate

A Heart rate monitor is a device used to measure a person's pulse or heart rate.

• Finger pulse oximeter: These wearable devices are slipped over the finger and measure pulse and blood oxygen levels. They use infrared light and photodetectors to detect blood flow and oxygen saturation.
• Chest strap heart rate monitor: This type of heart rate monitor consists of an elastic strap worn around the chest and a transmitter connected to the strap. The transmitter measures the heart rate and wirelessly transmits it to a receiving device such as a sports watch or smartphone.
• Wrist pulse monitor: These devices are worn on the wrist and use optical sensors to measure pulse. They are integrated into fitness trackers, smartwatches, or dedicated heart rate monitors.
• Heart rate monitor on the ear: Some heart rate monitors are worn on the ear and use optical sensors to detect the pulse. They are often integrated into headphones or earbuds.

Heart rate monitors are useful tools for monitoring your heart rate during exercise or in everyday life. They allow you to control training intensity and ensure you're training within your target heart rate zone. This can help optimize training effectiveness and prevent overexertion or insufficient exertion. Heart rate monitors are also used by people with specific medical needs to monitor their heart rate and detect any abnormalities.
