Concept2 was founded in 1976 by brothers Dick and Pete Dreissigacker—originally in the "back of a bread truck." Since then, the brand has become the global standard in rowing. Starting with lightweight, durable carbon fiber oars, the Indoor Rower was developed in 1981—today a worldwide bestseller under the name RowErg for athletes, rehabilitation patients, and home users.

The product range now also includes the SkiErg (for intense full-body training similar to cross-country skiing) and the BikeErg – both based on the same precise air resistance system. Concept2 sells directly—without intermediaries—which ensures high quality, sustainability, and fair pricing. The brand stands for innovation, reliability, and a dedicated community.

As of January 1, 2025, Concept2 is owned by a Purpose Trust, ensuring that values such as customer proximity, product integrity, and long-term development remain at the center of the business.
