Buy a treadmill that fits your workout at home

With a treadmill, you can give free rein to your urge to exercise - regardless of the weather. For many years, treadmills have been the dominant exercise category in the USA, the world's largest fitness market, and a major training focus in gyms globally. Accordingly, the popularity of motorized treadmills in the home has also increased considerably in Switzerland in recent years - we think: rightly so!

Get going with the treadmill

Walking, hiking or running are our most natural forms of locomotion, so the treadmill is our most natural fitness device for these sports.

Treadmills are ideal for burning calories, improving our fitness, strengthening our leg and back muscles, and maintaining our muscle coordination.

Treadmills can be used regardless of age group and fitness level as it provides a safe method of exercise even for people who are just starting to exercise, are still in the recovery stage or suffer from obesity. On the treadmill, the body moves in the way that nature intended for it to move. Therefore, the treadmill is an excellent way to keep in shape. With a shock-absorbing tread design, versatile workout feedback and a wide range of programs, treadmills make natural movements easier, safer and more motivating.

What should your treadmill be like? Foldable, as quiet as possible or capable of climbing?

Treadmills of various brands such as Life Fitness, Tunturi or Horizon Fitness differ in the strength of the motor, the initial and maximum speed, the size of the running surface, the incline options, the cushioning, as well as the range of programs.

The motor power is decisive for the running smoothness of a treadmill. For heavier users or faster runners, a larger motor should be available.

The treadmills of the SportsArt brand have an initial speed of 0.2km/h instead of the usual 0.5 or 0.8km/h. This makes it possible to use the treadmill in rehabilitation. This makes it possible to use the treadmill in the rehabilitation area, where a lower initial speed is required to allow a slow build-up. Maximum speeds can go up to 24km/h.

Devices of the SportsArt brand also offer the possibility of a reverse running function of up to 5km/h, which is mainly used in the physiotherapeutic field. The size of the running surface determines the training comfort and the surefootedness. Taller persons should select a sufficiently large running surface, as they also take larger steps at higher speeds and therefore require a longer contact surface. The incline angle simulates hill running and not only challenges another area of the leg muscles, but also brings exciting variety to the training routine. Some SportsArt treadmills also offer a negative incline to simulate running downhill.

Gentle running training with variations

One of the most important criteria when buying a treadmill is the cushioning. To protect the ankles, knees, hips and spine, good cushioning is a prerequisite. Various shock absorption techniques are in use in the treadmill market. From a simple cushioning system like Kettler or Horizon-Fitness to the REACT absorption technology from Nautilus, where the running deck suspension dynamically adjusts to the weight and running style of each runner. Alternatively, SportsArt's TR33 offers five levels of electronic cushioning adjustment, allowing each runner to find their ideal cushioning.

Training programs provide more variety in training and increase motivation. Treadmills are equipped with training computers that offer a variety of programs. Pre-programmed load profiles, pulse-controlled programs, interval programs, as well as user-defined training programs, where a personal running distance can be saved, are part of the offer.

Training success always in view

User-friendly displays show comprehensive training statistics such as time, distance, incline, speed or heart rate. Treadmills with pulse-controlled training programs offer the option of entering the desired training pulse (fat burning or endurance training). The treadmill controls the speed or incline or a combination of speed/ incline so that you always stay at the preset heart rate. Treadmills for home use are often available in a foldable version to save space. Commercially available treadmills, which are designed for a higher continuous load or for a higher payload, do not offer this option.
